Wearable Watercolors

For this assignment, we drew three vignettes using water color and one using both water color and a colored pencil. The vignettes were to include one accessory along with its immediate context. I choose my grandma's necklace, my sunglasses, and Michelle's scarf. I like the similarities between either side of the pages; how they each have accessories around the neck and then are pulled together with the red glasses.

2 Page Spread

Our second drawing project was to find a 2 page spread for inspiration in a magazine and then make our own rendition of it. Here is my final product. It was not supposed to be an exact replica, we were just taking the same layout and contributing 'first week back at school' things. As you can see, the original layout had grass on the left hand side and then it repeated itself in the lettering of 'hello' on the opposite side. That's what I did as well with the words from the left being transferred to my name on the right. The other things in the layout are fairly self-explanatory.

I think the main point of this assignment was to see the layout, or compostion, in an already printed format. Also, how it works in the context of the magazine. We talked about how Vogue, for example, would have a completely different style compared to Architectural Digest. For me, Vogue is more my style. Somewhat relaxed but then also classy a some points.

2 Page Important Objects

For our first drawing project, we were told first of all, to choose 5 artifacts that have importance to us. We then 'memorialized' them using a black pen and one colored pencil. We were encouraged to use words and drawings. Our main focus this semester is composition and context, so that was definitely important to incorporate it in our spread.

The New Semester

The start of a new semester! We got right into it again and we started working with watercolors. I was really excited to start! I had seen the second year's drawings with water color added and it just really adds to the drawing or sketch. This was my first go at it and I am happily suprised
that it turned out they way it did. I am proud of my first attempt...what do you think?
